Talented Autist Students

One of them was a girl named Angel, she is in year three. Her austim was very serve, she would limb while walking but that never prevented her from particapating in on activities. Another example is that she was brave and intelligent enough to hold the stairs barrier and walk independently up and down the stairs.

She enjoys talking even though her speech isn’t clear, she loves using the computer, she’s is the class monitor, she’s likes to work independently.

Her best quality was, a incident where a so-called ‘normal’ girl that is intelligent and has all her senses was bullying, teasing and mimicking angel, when angel was explaining her work to the teacher. The teacher sent the student out of the classroom and told the student to apologise to angel when angel comes back into the classroom. the student apologised to angel, angels reply was “don’t do it again”. I was impressed that angel stood up of herself and that she wasn’t upset or discouraged. Angel has a very strong personality regardless of autism.

In music lesson everyone played violin, i wasn’t sure what angel would do but to my delight there was a giangtic paino at the front of the music class and angel sat on the piano and played ‘jiggle bell jiggle bell melody’ on the piano without support from teachers and teaching assitants.

This is just an example of how very intelligent and multi-talented young girl that doesn’t let people put her of and stop her from being happy. she is a good role model for everyone.
