To become a teacher in primary or secondary school there are various routes. Depending on your qualification and experience you can choice whichever route best suits you.

I will be listing some of the options you have:-

To begin with it is compulsory that anyone who wants to become teacher has A-C GCSE in english, mathematics and science or equivalent qualifications.

The most suitable degrees would be B(Ed)Bachelor of educational degree, BA(hons) Bachelor of Arts or Scince BSc(hons) as an undergraduate . After you gain one of the above degrees, you go on to study another year of ITT(initial teacher training), this will support your needs to meeting the professional standards for QTS(Qualifies taechers status).

Having (QTS) is very important because QTS providers tecahers with formal skills and qualities needed to be an effective teacher.For postgraduates, i would recommend PGCE(postgraduate Certificate of Education). PGCE will be all that is required from postgraduates to become QTS.

But there is also another route for postgraduates, it is (SCITT). School Centre Intial teacher training, within classroom -based training, can progress to PCGE. For people overseas teachers or teachers looking for Employment-based route. You can gain QTS by working in an school on trainee based salary, provided you already have a degree. Graduate Teacher Programme(GTP)

Registered Teacher Programme(RTP)

Oversea Teacher Training Programme(specialised for those qualified outside EU but you will need teaching qualification that is equivalent to UK Degree). For anyone who wishes to work with children must have Two career reference, CRB and experience (voluntary or paid) of teaching children.
